The path to becoming qualified as a Microdiver be able to use the MiniB system will depend upon your current diving status and whether you have any current 'Scuba Diving' qualifications. There will be a need to complete certain declarations and releases with regard to your health and the use of the equipment.

The Costs of the MiniB/Microdiver Course

In qualifying to become a MiniB/Microdiver, your training will consist of three modules:-

  • Home Study Knowledge Base - firstly there is the Home Study Knowledge Base which covers the main principals of shallow water diving to a maximum of 9 metres.  This is the initial part of your training and must be completed before the three qualifying dives leading to Certification.

  • In-Water - this consists of the pratical instruction of a range of sensible but practical skills on the surface and underwater which will enhance the pleasure of becoming of MiniB qualified Microdiver.

  • The third module consists of the three quailfying dives of a minimum of 20 minutes each.

The  Home Study Knowledge Base training is can be completed at your own  out pace but for your assistance we would suggest that you decide upon where you wish to do the In-Water Skills as well as the three qualifying dives and therefore have access to a qualified Instructor either by email, in person or via a telephone. Mini-B will recognise Instructors from all of the major training agencies such as PADI; indeed PADI has already recognised the potential of the Mini-B in writing. The Knowledge Base section must be completed prior to any practical involvment in the water.

In-Water training which can be Pool based or Confined Open Water based, completes the experience by you demonstrating the basic skills required using the MiniB system . On successful completion of this section and the three qualifying dives you will then be qualified to dive to a depth of no more than 9 metres using the MiniB system as a Microdiver.

The Home Study Knowledge pack basic has a cost of £79.95 or its equivalent cost in €'s or any other currency.  In-water costs may vary wherever you complete this part of the course but in Gozo, where we are based, the cost is £85 per person (or € equivalent at the time of payment). The three qualifying dives also costs £85 per person  or (€ equivalent at the time of payment).

MiniB System Costs

The cost of purchase of the equipment will depend upon which system you wish to purchase and the individual components chosen and will range from the basic MiniB Classic through to the Sport Mark 11 and the C-Pro Plus. If you wish to purchase your own system it can be delivered to your home or to the training centre of your choice.  If you are a suitably qualified diver from an alternative training agency and qualified to dive to a depth greater than 9 metres, both the Sport MK11 and the C-Pro Plus have the ability to be fitted with larger cylinders.  As with most equipment it can be rented for the duration of your stay, if previously qualified or, if completing a MiniB/Microdiver Course, the rental of the equipment is included in the cost of your course. If you wish to purchase a system please contact us with details of what you wish to purchase and delivery details as we can arrange for this to take place on your return home after completing your course.
